Responding to Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai call to focus the coming developing stage on social innovation, the Community Development Authority in Dubai (CDA) organised today a brainstorming session for representatives of the social clubs licensed by CDA.
Held under the theme “CDA platform for social innovation”, the session was attended by more than twenty representatives of non-profit clubs that provides different social services in Dubai. The session aimed to involve various social segments in presenting innovative ideas that could bring benefit to the community and to advantage of their knowledge and Creative thinking to build a strong and cohesive society.
The brainstorming tackled four main areas: Providing Successful Stories of Social Innovation; Shaping the Future of Civil Sector; Innovation Ideas for Developing the Community and How to Keep Innovation Alive. The attendees discussed in smaller groups innovative ideas to improve services provided in these areas and how to overcome the challenges in an innovative ways that could improve people happiness.
His Excellency Ahmad Abdulkarim Julfar, Director General of CDA said that the wise vision of UAE leadership foresaw the future needs of the community and directed the society sectors to develop thinking and lifestyles that commensurate with the future challenges and the anticipated changes. “Only innovative ideas and projects could ensure sustainable development of social services”, he said.
“Maintaining our community development requires strong foundation and extraordinary methodologies that invests in youth energy, develop knowledge propositions and utilise non-traditional tools to continually improve social services. CDA innovation platform for social innovation is part of our commitment to continually improve the community cohesion,
provide unique community model that allows equal opportunities to all its members to participate in national development”.
Dr. Omar Al Muthanna, CEO, Licensing & Monitoring Sector indicated that the communities are essential part of UAE society, which is one of the most prominent features of our rich civilization that has evolved over the years.
Maintaining this momentum requires involving all sectors of citizens in developing innovative solutions that could ensure the capability to address future challenges and contribute to improve people happiness.
“Today with the representatives of licensed social clubs in Dubai we were able to discuss number of social topics and came up with innovative ideas. We will study these ideas extensively within CDA innovation platform and explore the possibility of converting them successful projects”, he added.
During the session, the attendees showed interest in the invitation of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to the community to be part of the next stage of the innovation and his call to strengthen the partnership between the public and private sectors to achieve this.
