DEWA Gold Sponsor of Orphan Day for 5th year running

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) is gold sponsor of the Orphan Day celebrations (Mother of Giving) for the 5th year in a row. Orphan Day was organised for the 11th time by Dar Al Ber Society, under the patronage of HH Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, wife of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. The ceremony was held at Dubai World Trade Center, as a part of DEWA’s efforts to support religious, cultural, and social events that promote tolerance and compassion among all segments of society.

During the event, the orphans were presented with gifts ahead of Eid Al Fitr celebrations. The ceremony was attended by Officials, VIP’s, and representatives from sponsoring organisations.
The event hosted 200 orphans from the UAE and 14 from abroad. Also children from outside the UAE were hosted along with their guardians for a week’s stay in Dubai, where a programme was arranged for them to visit key attractions in the city.

“In adherence with the directives of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to support community activities in all areas and enhance communication with all segments of society to instil the Islamic values and culture, DEWA annually sponsors the Orphan Day celebrations, organised by Dar Al Ber Society.

DEWA promotes the various charitable activities of HH Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, wife of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum (Mother of Giving), who makes every effort to sponsor orphans and contribute towards supporting and assisting the poor and needy everywhere, said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA.

“We appreciate the efforts of the Dar Al Ber Society, one of the first charity bodies in the UAE. We commend their efforts to support charity projects that enhance unity and tolerance among different categories of society. Our sponsorship of this ceremony supports DEWA’s efforts to strengthen its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), and role to support social development in Dubai, as well as help orphans, and provide them will all support necessary, to enable them to play active roles in society. DEWA strives to enhance their social connections with different parties in the UAE, to support its CSR and the UAE’s contribution towards voluntary and humanitarian work,” concluded Al Tayer.
