Dubai Association Centre promotes Dubai towards international associations

Concludes participation in ASAE Great Ideas Conference held in Hong Kong recently

The Dubai Association Centre (DAC) concluded its successful participation in the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) Great Ideas Conference in Hong Kong recently. The Centre held 35 meetings with international associations based in Asia and North America expressing interest in DAC and in knowing more about Dubai as a hub for international associations.

The Great Ideas Conference which was the second such conference organised by ASAE in the Asia Pacific region provided a fitting platform for Dubai Association Centre to promote its services and the emirate as a regional centre in the Middle East and North Africa for global professional associations.

During their meetings with Asian and American professional associations, held on the side-lines of the conference, the DAC delegation apprised them about the services provided by the Centre, and the benefits offered by Dubai to Asian and American associations interested in setting up a base in Dubai.

Hassan Al Hashemi, Member of the Executive Committee of DAC and Vice President of International Relations, Dubai Chamber, informed that the Centre agreed on bringing an ASAE delegation to Dubai in October to apprise them about the services offered by the Centre as well as the many benefits available for global professional associations to operate out of Dubai which has excellent infrastructural and logistics facilities including world-class airports to reach out to the regional markets in the Middle East and North Africa.

Steen Jakobsen, Director, Dubai Business Events, Dubai Corporation for Tourism and Commerce Marketing, said: “Our participation in the ASAE Great Ideas Conference reconfirmed the strong interest in Dubai from associations located in Asia and North America. Dubai is a growing hub for knowledge and education, and attracting international associations to set up shop in the emirate will help reinforce this position further.”

Dubai Association Centre was established in the beginning of 2014 under a Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Dubai Business Events (DBE, part of the Dubai Corporation for Tourism and Commerce Marketing) and the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) to offer assistance for the establishment of non-profit, apolitical and nonreligious professional associations and trade bodies in the emirate of Dubai.

DAC allows a formal environment where international non-profit, scientific and professional associations can form a membership-based community and open a regional representative office to conduct business in the UAE and the wider Middle East region.

For associations, the advantages of setting up in Dubai go beyond the obvious attractions of a well-developed city at the crossroads of Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia, and all the prospects for new business this creates. DAC provides practical support, in the form of serviced office accommodation in Sheikh Rashid Tower and access to the networking facilities of the World Trade Club, both located at Dubai World Trade Centre, the region’s leading events and exhibition venue.
