Dubai Culture and Arts Authority to Organise ’Live our Heritage’ Festival

Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture), the Emirate's dedicated entity for heritage, arts and culture, is set to organise ‘Live our Heritage Festival’ over the period from 17 to 23 April at Al Shindagha Historic Neighbourhood. The festival will coincide with the annual World Heritage Day marked on 18th of April.

Saeed Al Naboodah, Acting Director General Dubai Culture, said: “Dubai Culture’s vision focuses on leveraging the dedicated platforms such as ‘Live Our Heritage Festival’ to highlight the rich cultural scene in the city and to reflect Dubai’s Arabic heritage identity. the Festival will provide an important platform to connect between different cultures in the United Arab Emirates and will educate the residents and visitors from across the world on the high moral values engraved in our roots.”

‘Live our Heritage Festival’ programme will include an array of traditional local crafts, in addition to many events, activities and workshops focusing on the UAE traditional customs and authentic cuisines. The festival will also host bands that will play heritage songs and dances and will see the active participation of Dubai Development Heritage Centres supported by Dubai culture.

Fatima Lootah, Manager of Dubai Heritage Development Centers, said: “we are glad to organise ‘Live our Heritage’ festival that will facilitate ideal platform to define our heritage to those who want to know more about it, especially residents and visitors to Dubai. We are sure as well that this week backed with activities will attract huge crowds, in addition to workshops which will attract visitors from all age groups”.

During the festival, Dubai Culture aims to raise awareness about the heritage of the UAE and its values and what have been passed on through the generations to our current days. 

“Live our heritage” festival will open its doors welcoming the visitors, were the opening ceremony will be conducted by Dubai Heritage Development Centres. The programme will also include a “Tour in our Heritage” and a display for traditional crafts made by Emirati crafters. Every day of the festival will be held under a different theme and will include organising different traditional activities.
