Dubai Customs discuss furthering trade cooperation with Ukraine’s Consul-General

Dubai Customs continues to boost its relationships with foreign diplomatic corps aiming for more growth in Dubai’s trade with the world. In this respect, H.E. Ahmed Mahboob Musabih has welcomed H.E. Oleksandr Balanutsa, Ukrainian Consul-General in Dubai and the northern regions, in the presence of Mr. Faisal Eissa Lutfi, CEO of DC World and Director of External Relations at Dubai Customs.

The meeting explored the means of strengthening bilateral cooperation to deepen economic and commercial ties that bind the United Arab Emirates to the Republic of Ukraine.

Mr. Balanutsa highly praised Dubai Customs for its constant efforts  to support the rising UAE-Ukraine bilateral trade. He particularly underlined the high quality of customs services and facilitations it offers to Ukrainian traders and investors, which greatly benefits the building up of a solid relationship between the two friendly nations.

The Consul-General said Ukraine is seeking to utilize the UAE’s leading development experience, noting that the establishment of a Ukrainian business council is underway to better link Ukrainian companies with local and federal economic bodies.     

 “Dubai Customs is very keen on promoting cooperation and coordination with Ukrainian authorities and business community, as we aim to take the flow of trade between the UAE and Ukraine to promising new heights for the best interests of our nations,” said Ahmed Mahboob Musabih.

He added that Dubai-Ukraine trade reached AED 1.13 billion in 2015 with imports contributing AED 782 million, exports AED 108 million and re-exports AED 241 million. 

“We are driven by the directives of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, in developing trade and economic ties with the globe and cascading Dubai’s pioneering experience to friendly nations that are aspiring to learn from the Emirate’s ethos in developing its economic capacity. By developing strong ties with diplomatic commissions within the UAE, customs authorities and the business sectors,  we in fact contribute to the country’s economic development, so enhancing its key presence on the global trade landscape,” Ahmed Mahboob explained. 

On his part, Faisal Issa Lutfi said, “Such meetings with foreign diplomatic corps always help in identifying their needs of customs and trade services. We at Dubai Customs World are dedicated towards sharing DC’s rich experience, accomplishments and innovations in order to boost other countries’ capacities while aiding in achieving the aspired progress.
