Global Women’s Forum Dubai provides tools to help women prepare for boardroom service

The session took place in the ‘Women on Boards’ hub in The Discovery at Global Women’s Forum Dubai. It was moderated by LeAnne Graves, Energy Correspondent from The National Newspaper, and included Elin Hurvenes, Founder and Chair of Professional Boards Forum in Norway, as well as Mette Laursen, Founder of LinKS, Denmark.

Elin Hurvenes said: “Women are sometimes held back either by social, economic, and personal challenges. It comes from a lack of confidence. Women need to overcome these challenges in order to thrive and achieve their goals. When I started my business, I had an idea and it was all about bringing it together. If you really want to do something and believe in it, you just have to do it. It’s about perseverance more than anything.”

Mette Laursen added: “I always believe you need to be really good at what you do. You need be good at managing, controlling, adhering to regulations, being a good team player, and most importantly, being resilient. You need to think ahead, and know and truly believe that you are doing the right thing. Those are the qualities that women need to make it to the Boards.”
