Dubai Design District And Emirati Designers Make Their Mark At World’s Premier Design Fair In Milan |

Artwork and design pieces of 11 local designers exhibited to over 1,500 people at Milan Design WeekDubai Design District, d3, successfully showcased the work of 11 cutting-edge Emirati creatives at Milan Design Week, which concluded on 22 April. Over 1,500 people attended the exhibition ‘UAE Design Stories: The Next Generation from The Emirates’, hosted by the world’s first purpose-built creative district and supported by the Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development at this year’s Salone Del Mobile International Design Fair. The event brought together local designers Alia Mazrooei and Roudha Alshamsi, multi-disciplinary designer Aljoud Lootah, conceptual artists and designers Zeinab Alhashemi and Latifa Saeed, sculptor and product designer Azza Al Qubaisi, jewellery designer Alia bin Omair, interdisciplinary designer Salem Al-Mansoori, architect Abdalla AlMulla, Bedouin Emirati artist Ahmad AlAreef, and culinary expert, Bader Najeeb, who fused design and food to create a truly unique gastronomic experience Mohammad Saeed Al Shehhi, CEO at d3 said “We would like to extend our deepest thanks to the UAE Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development, whose extensive support enabled us to make this exhibition a huge success, and to Khalid Shafar, who curated this project and brought it to life. We are extremely proud of all 11 of our designers who helped highlight the region’s creativity and contemporary thinking at this prestigious event.” d3’s Milan event was the first in a series of UAE Design Stories exhibitions. The display, which highlighted ‘Emirati Landscape: Flora, Fauna and Soil,’ will move to the London Design Festival in September and will return to Dubai for the grand finale as part of Dubai Design Week from 13 to 19 November. |
