Dubai Islamic Affairs Announces The Delivery Of 38 Housing Units To Deserving Emirati Families

The Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai (IACAD) announced the delivery of 38 housing units to deserving Emirati families, in cooperation with Sheikh Zayed Housing Programme as part of the “Mudon Al Khair” (Cities of Goodness) initiative. IACAD also announced that the donations from individuals, government and private entities reached AED 43,200,000. The move falls within the framework of IACAD’s commitment to fulfil the tasks entrusted to it under Article 9 of the Fifty-Year Charter launched by H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

IACAD has been tasked with implementing the initiatives of Article 9 of the Fifty-Year Charter, which includes "Mudon Al Khair" in partnership with Sheikh Zayed Housing Programme. “Mudon Al Khair” aims to raise AED 50 million to build 50 homes across the UAE to benefit low-income citizens do not meet the eligibility requirements of Sheikh Zayed Housing Programme.

Dr. Hamad Bin Al Sheikh Ahmed Al Shaibani, General Director of the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai, stressed IACAD’s keenness to forge partnerships with various government bodies, as well as the private sector, to achieve stability for Emirati families across all economic strata. IACAD’s contribution to "Mudon Al Khair" initiative is part of the directives of the wise leadership of Dubai to support the humanitarian work in the emirate and to assist Emirati families who would otherwise not be eligible for the Sheikh Zayed Housing Programme. This is aimed at meeting the housing needs of Emirati families as part of the leaderships’ housing plans for citizens.

Mr. Ahmed Darwish Al Muhairi, Executive Director of the Charity Sector, IACAD highlighted the exemplary efforts of the department in collecting, managing and monitoring the donations received. He added that the department will continue to strive to launch and support humanitarian and charitable initiatives, within and outside of the emirate, to realise the vision outlined by H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, in his Fifty-Year Charter, which includes the Ninth Article aimed at achieving annual growth in philanthropy, aligned with our economic growth."

In its ninth article, the Fifty-Year Charter outlines an annual growth in philanthropy, with a pledge to increase charitable initiatives every year and grow them by at least an equal percentage of the UAE’s annual economic growth.

“Mudon Al Khair” initiative was launched as part of Year of Zayed initiatives to support charitable and social projects and events at local and federal levels. It is a model of successful community partnership to identify eligible families and provide housing for them with support from the private sector as well as individual donors. The Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department contributes to the collection of financial contributions, as well as its supervision, in the emirate of Dubai.
