Autism spectrum disorder is becominga major threat, large public health challenge, and mostcommon persistent developing disorder to public healthin Dubai. Most of the families are facing lifelong challengebecause of the different nature of disorders likeneurodevelopment disorder, which often results in anarray of motor impairments. These motor impairmentsare the main cause of decrease performance of routine life as well as in societal tasks which requirespecific motor abilities and skills.

There is no known single cause for autism spectrum disorder, but it is generally accepted that it is caused by abnormalities in brain structure or function. Brain scans show differences in the shape and structure of the brain in children with autism compared to in neurotypical children. Researchers do not know the exact cause of autism but are investigating several theories, including the links among heredity, genetics and medical problems.

Autism has a strong genetic basis, although the genetics of autism are complex and it is unclear whether ASD is explained more by rare mutations with major effects, or by rare multigene interactions of common genetic variants. Complexity arises due to interactions among multiple genes, the environment, and epigenetic factors which do not change DNA sequencing but are heritable and influence gene expression

Dubai Autism Centre estimates that autism is affecting 1 in 146 births (0.68%). By applying theseestimates to the total number of births in Dubai,it was predicted that approximately 199 children of which58 (29.1%) were UAE nationals and 141 (70.9%) were expats suffering from autism at the same stage. Someof the families of about 16.4% of children searching helpfor ASD assessment between the age group 6–18+. Mostof the families are not going to consult GPs for earlydiagnosis because of the number of reasons includingcultural reasons. So, it became critical to understand late-stage diagnosis as ASD can be diagnosed much earlier andhow many of these later presenters are diagnosed withASD.

The study reflected future prediction of the casesbased on international standards prevalence and thepopulation density as reflected by the figure whichreflected the highest prevalence at the age intervals of25-29 years, 30-34 years, and 35-39 years respectively.
