Tree-Change Or Sea-Change? Your Guide To The UAE’s Most Popular Residential Neighborhoods

Newcomers to Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah are likely to be overwhelmed by the list of must-live addresses in these three coastal Emirates. Even long-term residents find themselves dazzled by new developments. Changing apartments to get closer to all the action or retreat from it is common due to the sheer number of options available.

Here are some of the most popular residential neighbourhoods in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah where one can find residential properties for sale or rent. The amenities in each are world-class, many feature sea views and are within minutes of international airports and major landmarks.

Dubai

Dubai Creek Harbour is the city’s newest commercial hub. Located just ten minutes from Downtown Dubai, the iconic waterfront address is already teeming with retail, cultural and residential spaces. Part of this new development is the Dubai Creek Tower which was designed by world-renowned architect and engineer Santiago Calatrava and aims to be the world’s tallest.

Tucked away behind Dubai Festival City and just ten minutes from Dubai International Airport is the gem of Nadd al Hammar. Originally known for its sprawling villas, the freehold development is now home to shopping and dining outlets and other amenities that are popular among its cosmopolitan residents. The area is beautifully landscaped with date palms and vibrant florals, making it a favourite with walkers, cyclists and joggers in the cooler months.

Abu Dhabi

Just steps from the glittering waters of the Arabian Gulf, Yas Island is filled with inspiring, contemporary and sustainable homes for professionals and their families to truly enjoy what the nation’s capital has to offer. In addition to its award-winning theme parks, the expansive retail space is balanced with unobstructed waterfront, and the facilities are suited for recreational walking, jogging and cycling in the cooler months.

Al Raha Beach offers a quiet escape for the residents of Abu Dhabi. Complete with stretches of white sandy beach and luscious landscaped gardens, Al Raha is located just next to Yas Island, giving residents the option of joining the revellers or choosing more relaxed, peaceful moments.

Sharjah

Maryam Island is nestled in the centre of downtown Sharjah, overlooking the sparkling Arabian Sea. Touted as the ultimate leisure and lifestyle destination, residents owning and renting apartments can enjoy the seemingly endless amenities: waterfront dining, a souq, children’s play areas, retail outlets, fitness clubs and swimming pools. Sharjah International Airport is an easy 20km drive away, making travel very convenient.

Corniche Al Buhaira remains one of the most popular locations in Sharjah for renting commercial and residential properties. Located on a narrow strip of land around Khalid Lake, the area is bustling with residential complexes, resorts, restaurants and supermarkets. It is a stone’s throw from Al Majaz Waterfront, a favourite of locals and residents who come to enjoy the luscious greenery, musical fountains and exceptional eateries.
