The Emirates Philatelic Association (EPA) and Emirates Post had participated in the China 2009 World Stamp Exhibition held in Luoyang, China from 10-16 April 2009. More than 800 exhibitors from 76 countries participated in the show and more than 3000 frames were on display.
Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II shown selected philatelic gems from the Royal Philatelic Collection and participated in the Court of Honour.
EPA participants in the show won a number of laurels for their entries at the exhibition. Mr. Abdulla Mohammed Tayyeb Khoory, President of Emirates Philatelic Association won a Gold Medal for his collection "Dubai Postal History", this is a first time to receive such medal for the exhibit about United Arab Emirates. Mr. Mohamad Aktar Sayeed won Large Vermeil for "India, 1852 -1923 The D’La Rue Years", Mr. Thomas Johansen Won Large Vermeil for "Bahrain Postal History - The Indian Period", Mr. Ahmad Bin Eisa Al Serkal won Silver medal for "Abu Dhabi Stamps 1963-1973" and Mr. Ali Abdul Rahman also won Silver medal for his collection " India: Asoka Stationery".
Mr. Muhammad Javaid was as a National Commissioner for the exhibition from United Arab Emirates.
The Emirates Post sales booth was very busy during the exhibition and attracted number of visitors.
"These achievements have enhanced our prestige in the world of philately. It is a great honour for United Arab Emirates to achieve above successes," said Omar Mohammed Ahmed, EPA Honorary Secretary.
