Emirate Expects 6% Rise In Hotel Occupancy In Summer: Noman

Summer is back and so are the exciting summer promotions and fabulous family fun events in Sharjah. Being held from May 31 to July 17 this year, the Sharjah Summer Promotions are always looked forward to by the UAE residents and visitors. The emirate’s tourism sector is expecting huge gains and growth this summer, said HE Mohamed Ali Al Noman, Chairman of the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority.

“The Sharjah Summer Surprises have always played a crucial role in attracting visitors from across the region and around the world who come to enjoy some great summer activities and huge discounts and promotions,” said SCTDA Chairman.

Al Noman said that the emirate expects a 6 per cent increase in hotel occupancy during this summer. He hoped that the recent successful Sharjah road shows in several Gulf states and showcasing of the emirate at the Riyadh Travel Fair last month, would help attract more visitors from the neighbouring Gulf and Arab countries.

The Sharjah Summer Surprises are being organised by the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry in collaboration with the SCTDA and other government departments and agencies in the emirate. The SSS events and promotions are being held in malls, shopping centres, traditional souqs, hotels and amusement parks across the emirate.

“The appeal of a summer in Sharjah to GCC and Arab tourists and residents remains strong. Success in this regard will give the domestic tourism sector further momentum, as we capitalise on the strength of our domestic tourism market to attract foreign tourists. This will significantly enhance tourism revenue and boost the local economy,” said Al Noman.

“We invite UAE residents from the UAE and travelers from overseas to enjoy a wonderful holiday in Sharjah where fun, entertainment, adventure and amusements come together in a single destination that integrates entertainment facilities, hotels and resorts, tourist activities, pristine golden beaches and marine life. Sharjah is also a unique destination for cultural tourism, with numerous museums that offer impressive and memorable moments to enrich any visit.”

With modern shopping malls, traditional souqs, luxurious hotels, family entertainment facilities and 19 museums, visitors to Sharjah are sure to spend a truly rewarding summer holiday in the emirate.

Al Noman pointed out that the summer promotion campaign is in line with the SCTDA ’s strategy to diversify tourism offerings to attract both international and domestic tourists, develop the emirate’s tourism sector and improve the level of facilities and services offered by Sharjah’s hotels and resorts.
