His Excellency Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed Al Qassimi To Speak At Day One Conference


SMC Conference to Tackle the Media Progression and its Importance in Positioning Sharjah as the Cultural Capital of Arab & Islamic States on the Domestic and International Arena










His Excellency (H.E) Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed Al Qassimi, Chairman of Sharjah Media Corporation and Head of Sharjah Media Centre (SMC) announced the partnership of Sharjah Media Centre with Media and Marketing show (MMS) 2012. His Excellency highlighted the importance of the centre’s participation in the MMS 2012 where all experts and media professionals meet and network. The partnership arises from the keenness of SMC to keep up with the latest developments witnessed in the regional and international media industry. H.E Sheikh Al Qassimi will be the key speaker at the day one conference held by CMS, and will be joined on the speakers’ platform by Mr. Osama Samra- Director of SMC, Dr. Khalid Al Midfa- Director of Sharjah Radio and Television Corporation, Mr. Mohammed Khalaf, Manager of Sharjah Radio, and Mr. Ahmad bin Rakad Al Amri, Director of the Sharjah International Book Fair.

The SMC exposure at the MMS 2012, which will be held between 4th to 6th December, will allow the centre to foresee different media trends, exchange information, expertise and opinions. H.E Sheikh Al Qassimi said: “The Media and Marketing Show provides the perfect opportunity to exchange thoughts and opinions to guarantee unprejudiced media industry that has clear aims and objectives in sustaining human development.”

SMC Day one conference will tackle the media progression and its importance to the development of the Emirate of Sharjah in addition to promoting the emirate as the cultural capital of the U.A.E. as well as the cultural capital for all Arab and Islamic States.

The conference will state Sharjah Media Vision; discuss recent media accomplishments and future plans. It will define the latest developments witnessed in governmental communications and relationships. SMC most recent releases and issues will be revealed as well.

H.E Sheikh Al Qassimi stressed the importance of participation on the various exhibitions and media forums organized and held in the United Arab Emirates (U.A.E). He stated that SMC has to support all domestic and international media platforms as Media is playing a key influential role in all aspects of life.

Mr. Osama Samra, Director of SMC, said “SMC participation reflects the role of the centre as a communication bridge between Sharjah and the different means of domestic and international mass communication. It will help in reinforcing the mutual media cooperation, information and skills exchange with different association exhibiting at the MMS 2012 in order to build a dialogue and express the latest developments within international media”, he added “SMC aims to consolidate the exciting efforts of the emirate and add to them a greater performance to achieve distinguished outcomes and state Sharjah on the global media map.”

At SMC stand, centre’s representatives will present to different media the objectives, programs, and operational mechanism. In addition, introductory meetings will be set with other exhibitors in the MMS 2012.

Commenting on the partnership, Maysoon Abulhoul, Managing Director of Domus Group, said, “It is our pleasure to host SMC along with Fujairah Media Authority and Dubai Media City in MMS 2012. The increased interest recognized by governmental, and semi governmental authorities in the U.A.E reflects the success of the show being positioned among elite exhibitions that serve media, businesses and overall Arab societies within the past years” she added, “we have already covered 75% of target exhibitors, and the number of publishers’ presence have increased into 20% in

comparison with 2010. In addition, we are expecting 50% more visitors based on the pre-registered list up to date.”

MMS 2012 will witness 3 main conferences during the three day event in addition to several media workshops aimed to guarantee media interaction in a professional atmosphere. MMS is looking forward for more local media companies to balance with the existing international media at the show.
