Intercontinental Hotels Group (IHG) Has Announced The Appointment Of Franck Hesse As The New Area Director Of Sales And Marketing For Intercontinental Abu Dhabi And Intercontinental Al Ain










InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has announced the appointment of Franck Hesse as the new Area Director of Sales and Marketing for InterContinental Abu Dhabi and InterContinental Al Ain. Hesse brings with him over 10 years of hospitality experience with international hotel chains, including IHG which he joined in early 2002. In his new position in the United Arab Emirates, Hesse will be instrumental in developing and implementing the sales and marketing strategies for InterContinental Abu Dhabi and InterContinental Al Ain – two of the region’s most popular business and leisure travel hot spots. In his last position as Director of Sales for Crowne Plaza London – The City, Hesse was responsible for leading the sales team to drive RevPar growth, managing key hotel accounts and administrating the property’s marketing and communication strategy amongst other key duties. Prior to that, Hesse held the position of Senior Sales Manager at InterContinental Frankfurt in Germany. Commenting on Franck Hesse’s recent appointment, Tom Rowntree, Vice President Commercial, IHG Middle East and Africa said, “I am delighted to welcome Franck to the Middle East region and into his new position at IHG. Both our properties in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain are key business and leisure destinations and having Franck onboard with his extensive experience in sales and marketing will further position the properties at the forefront of the business. The tourism industry in both cities is growing at an exceptional rate and IHG is keen to play a pivotal role in its development.” Speaking about his appointment Hesse added, “I am thrilled to be taking on this position and I’m looking forward to this new and exciting challenge. I am also confident that the team and I can deliver incredible results for both properties and position IHG as a leading hotel operator.” Hesse has a Bachelor Degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management from Glion Hotel School in Switzerland as well as a Bachelor of Science Degree in international Hospitality Management from the University of Wales. He is fluent in German, French and English. IHG currently has 79 properties and 19,467 rooms across five hotel brands in the Middle East & Africa region. There are a further 41 properties and 10,819 rooms in the development pipeline.
