Australian marine exporters set sights on Emirates Boat Show Internation in Abu Dhabi











The Australian International Marine Export Group (AIMEX), the apex body representing the Australian Marine Export industry has indentified Abu Dhabi as a key growth market and is putting it’s weight behind the Emirates Boat Show International in Abu Dhabi from 25th to 29th November 2008. "AIMEX is delighted to partner with Knotika to promote their boat shows given the fact that they have on board the knowledge and experience of their General Manager Farrokh Golchin who AIMEX members have worked with successfully in the past," Ms Edwards stated. "Our primary purpose is to develop and promote Australia’s thriving Marine Industry to the world, offering a unified voice and enhanced international marketing power," said Mary Anne Edwards, Chief Executive of AIMEX. "Our membership comprises leading recreational and light commercial marine industry companies involved in the design, manufacture, refitting and repair of all types of yachts, pleasure craft and light commercial boats, manufacturers of boat equipment and fittings, and firms and organisations involved with marinas and other centers concerned with the storage, servicing, refit and repair of all sizes of leisure craft and many of them have indicated a keen interest in the Emirates Boat Show" Ms Edwards stressed. Ms Edwards underscored the importance of the Australian Marine industry by highlighting its diversity with 2700 companies generating AED 22 billion turn over while employing 29,000 people. There is a thriving export industry of more than AED 3.5 billion annually. The world-class industry is located around Australia creating a contribution to regional economies. Emirates Boat Show International in Abu Dhabi is organized by Knotika Holding, a market leader in the regional leisure marine industry and organiser of prominent boat shows in Kuwait and Bahrain. EBSI will take place under the patronage of H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan Bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, Member of the Executive Council, The event will showcase Abu Dhabi as an emerging leisure marine power house in the GCC reflecting the enormous amount of marine related development and infrastructure currently planned and under construction as well as the love and passion of the people for boating. Forbes magazine recently reported Abu Dhabi as the world’s richest city. Responsible for more than 90 percent of the UAE’s oil production, Abu Dhabi possesses the fourth largest oil reserves in the world. According to media reports, Abu Dhabi has an investment fund exceeding $800 billion with more than $140 billion in government and privately-funded development projects currently underway in Abu Dhabi. The Emirates Boat Show International will attract more than 150 exhibitors and 200 boats will be on display in the water and onshore at the Abu Dhabi International Marine Sports Club (ADIMSC). Visitors will see a range of the latest leisure marine products, from multi-million dollar motor yachts to jet skis, wakeboarding boats and equipment, sailing dinghies and diving gear, marine accessories and electronics. The show will be open to both the trade and the public.
