The Department of Planning and Economy (DPE) in Abu Dhabi is organising the Abu Dhabi Investment Forum to be held in London on Oct. 28, 2008. The Forum will be a one-day event involving more than 150 international investors, Abu Dhabi’s key industry leaders, financial intermediaries and top-level policy makers.
The event will be held under patronage of Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces HH General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
In a press conference held at the DPE headquarters today to announce the event, HE Mohammed Omar Abdulla, DPE’s undersecretary, said: "The Forum will showcase the impressive range of investment opportunities in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and bring to light various business and entrepreneurship prospects being created through the policy of economic diversification adopted by the Capital".
"The Forum will be a one day event and will highlight some of the major opportunities available to foreign organisations interested in investing in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, and participating in the many significant projects that are already underway, or are being planned for the future. " he added.
He said the Forum will provide a distinctive opportunity to have a closer look at Abu Dhabi’s economic reforms with regards to privatization, restructuring initiatives, expansion and development plans. "The Forum will also emphasize Abu Dhabi’s role as a financial and commercial business centre and introduce the Emirate’s new prospects in the field of real estate, infrastructure, clean energy and sustainable development," Abdullah added.
He expressed great interest in this exclusive Forum, noting that it comes during an unprecedented phase of economic growth and development, and will exhibit Abu Dhabi’s economic restructuring plans and commitment to sustainable growth.
"This Forum will reflect Abu Dhabi’s commitment to support the private sector, and enable it to take a more prominent role in the future economy," Abdullah added.
He stressed that the Abu Dhabi Investment Forum in London will be one among the most significant international events ever undertaken by the DPE.
"On the sideline of the Forum activities, the DPE will have a special suite where services and facilities provided by the DPE for investors will also be showcased. In addition, various Department of Planning and Economy publications will be distributed to give potential investors a better sense of the investment environment in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi" he said.
