Barbican TURBO To Host Team Orange, Stars Of The Fast & The Furious: Tokyo Drift For The Ultimate Drifting Experience


Reaffirming Its Status As The Must Attend Auto And Custom Car Meet, The Organizers Of Barbican TURBO Have Confirmed That Team Orange Will Be Headlining At The Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre Between The 13th And 15th November










Reaffirming its status as the must-attend auto and custom car meet, the organizers of Barbican TURBO have confirmed that Team Orange will be headlining at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre between the 13th and 15th November. A first for Middle East audiences, Team Orange will be performing their most outrageous drifting stunts and feats over the three day event in their signature orange-striped 450bhp Subarus Impreza GBDs. Hailing from Fukushima, Japan, Team Orange are one of the world’s top drifting teams; they are household names in Asia and the US thanks to their driving displays on the big screen in films such as The Fast & The Furious Tokyo Drift. Crowned 2006 D1 Grand Prix series champion, Japan’s leading car drifting series, Team Orange’s lead driver Nobushige Kumakubo will be driving bumper to bumper as he and his teammates show off their skills during twin-drift, or tsuiou, races Kumakubo will be joined by fellow Team Orange driver Kazuhiro Tanaka at Barbican TURBO. One of the founding drivers of the D1 Grand Prix series, Tanaka is considered one of the most skilful drifting drivers on the Japanese circuit and was ranked sixth over the 2006 D1 Grand Prix season. “It is an exciting time for the sport of drifting in the Middle East. Team Orange is the leader for driving displays worldwide and now the Team Orange drivers will be challenged like never before in their first ever trip to the region,” said Kent Daniels, Marketing Director, Barbican TURBO. “We’re proud to be able to bring Team Orange here to Abu Dhabi and have them display the ultimate in drifting to the thousands who will be attending the meet.” Fresh from the US series of the D1 Grand Prix, the drivers of Team Orange are thrilled to be setting the stage for their first Gulf performance. “We’re looking forward to wowing the crowds, many of whom will not have witnessed our outrageous drifting performances before. From what we have seen there is a lively motorsports scene in the Middle East and we want to help in promoting and bringing as much attention as possible to drifting,” said Nobushige Kumakubo, Team Orange. In addition to Team Orange’s world class driving displays, visitors will be able to review the latest in styling, performance products, audio/visual displays, screaming engines and smoking tyres! For the first time in the Middle East enthusiasts will have the chance to see if their own motors can match up to those of the pros, with the ‘Top 100’ and ‘Dyno Shoot Out’ competitions.
