Obesity Rates On The Rise In The UAE Capital - Change Lifestyle Habits And Improve Your Fitness Levels This November
A new health and well being show is being launched in the UAE offering an opportunity for everyone to try out new sports and activities and learn how to change lifestyle habits for a healthier future.
Abu Dhabi Alive will kick off at the Zayed Sports City in the UAE’s capital from 27 to 30 November, and is the first event of its kind where visitors can enjoy the fresh air while taking part in fun-filled health and fitness features such as interactive games, a rock climbing wall, fitness classes and cooking demonstrations, as well as get involved in a range of sports they possibly have never tried before.
Free advice will be available from expert health and fitness professionals and medical checks and body composition assessments will help people understand the impact that a change to their lifestyles could make.
Principal Sponsor Activelife by Daman has confirmed its participation, as part of its efforts to initiate a cultural shift in the UAE towards better fitness levels. The Activelife programme promotes wellbeing and fosters healthy living habits across the UAE community.
“Our Activelife initiative has been incredibly well received in the UAE and we are keen to be at Abu Dhabi Alive to spread the word to even more people who want to make positive changes in their daily lives,” said Dr. Sven Rohte, Chief Commercial Officer at Daman. “We will be at the show to discuss a range of health-related topics, particularly about how to make the first step towards a state of wellbeing. The greater awareness we can generate the better!”
At a time when cardiovascular diseases accounted for more than a quarter of deaths in Abu Dhabi in 2011, according to the Health Authority Abu Dhabi, adopting healthier lifestyles has never been more important in the UAE. A recent study has also indicated that 41 per cent of the UAE population over the age of 30 suffers from high blood pressure, significantly higher than the global average of 25 to 30 per cent.
“This fun-filled, family friendly event is the perfect opportunity for anyone from any walk of life to kick-start a new, healthy way of living. It is a chance to change lifestyle habits by learning about what is necessary for general wellbeing and improved fitness levels.” said Hayete Jemai, Exhibition Director at Informa Exhibitions.|
New to the UAE, Vivafit is taking part to launch its branch opening in Abu Dhabi. The fitness centre from Europe offers a range of workout solutions for women of all ages with exercise classes lasting 30 minutes, packed full of high intensity power, focused on weight loss and wellbeing.
“We strongly believe that women are the backbone of a family and if they are healthy, then the whole family is healthy,” said Otima Bhanot, Franchise Owner of Vivafit Abu Dhabi. “We’re looking forward to introducing Vivafit and making the women of Abu Dhabi aware of a very unique fitness centre which is ready to serve them the best workouts ever.”
