Sustainable Energy Set To Top The Agenda At Energy 2030

ADIPEC 2008 to host second Energy 2030 conference

ADIPEC 2008, working closely with The Petroleum Institute and Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), will play host to Energy 2030, which is set to be the strongest alternative energy conference programme ever. Now in its second year, the conference will run for two days from 4-5 November, and will be a key part of Abu Dhabi’s ’Vision 2030’ and its commitment to leading the global debate for energy resources of the future. Against a backdrop of major change in the oil and gas industry, Energy 2030 has an exceptional programme, with some of the top movers and shakers from industry and academia coming together for the two day event. Focusing on real energy alternatives, it will look at practical solutions to the problems facing the industry in the future, and will provide a forum which has the potential to be of significant value to the strategic planning of research and development in the oil and gas and broader energy areas. The programme includes an impressive list of the highest level international speakers, including, for example, Dr Donald R Erbschloe, Chief Scientist, US Air Mobility Command, and Professor Avram Bar-Cohen, Distinguished University Professor and Chair, University of Maryland, USA. The growing worldwide energy demand, and pressure for environmentally responsible methods, suggests that technology will be the driver to meet the challenges of the future. Energy 2030’s technical programme consists of twelve lectures by top executives and academic experts from around the world. These speakers will share their vision of resources and technologies, spanning fossil and alternative fuels, energy from waste and biomass, solar and nuclear energy, energy efficiency and environmental initiatives. Energy economics and the security of energy supply will also be at the heart of the debate. In addition, there will be a dedicated technology workshop, to showcase the latest developments including solar, nuclear, wind, wave, biomass and fuel cells. Dr Ohadi, professor, provost and interim president for The Petroleum Institute, said, “Providing sustainable energy is a top agenda item of the world in this century; having a realistic understanding of the available options now and in the future will be critically useful to the strategic planning of research and development in the oil and gas and the broader energy areas. The primary objective of Energy 2030 forum of experts is to provide a collective independent expert opinion on the current status and future outlook of various energy resources and technologies.” ADIPEC is one of the largest oil and gas exhibitions in the world, and will take place in the new purpose-built Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre from 3-6 November 2008.
