The “Souk” at Qaryat Al Beri, a new project by Qaryat Al Beri Resort Development Company LLC, was inaugurated last night by His Excellency Sheikh Sultan Bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA). The opening ceremony, which included a ribbon cutting and a tour of the premises by HE Sheikh Sultan was attended by HE Obaid Khaleefa Al Jaber, Chairman of Qaryat Al Beri Resort Development Company LLC. Senior managers from ADTA, Qaryat Al Beri Resort Development Company LLC, government officials and members of the press were also present at the event. Qaryat Al Beri Resort Development Company LLC is a joint venture between Al Jaber Group and the Tourism Development and Investment Company (TDIC). HE Obaid Khaleefa Al Jaber thanked Sheikh Sultan Bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan for his support and for inaugurating the Souk at Qaryat Al Beri. “The Souk is a unique and the first of its kind in Abu Dhabi. It was built to showcase Arabian architecture and reflect traditional Arab hospitality and generosity,” said Fatima Al Jaber, General Manager of Qaryat Al Beri Resort Development Company LLC. “The Souk is now officially open and we would like to invite everyone to come and visit. Aimed to be the meeting place of choice for both leisure and business, the Souk will feature popular, retail and F&B (Food and Beverage) brands from the region and those from around the world,” Al Jaber added. Located between Maqtaa and Musaffah bridges in Abu Dhabi, the Souk is the latest among a string of projects being developed in the Qaryat Al Beri area, adjacent to the Shangri-La Abu Dhabi. Qaryat Al Beri is one of the most distinguished waterfront projects in Abu Dhabi. Built on two levels, the Souk is an interesting fusion of Arabian architecture with a Venetian theme. Water canals meander through the Souk and nearby properties with abras ferrying hotel guests from the Shangri-La to various locations. Several restaurants and coffee shops have alfresco dining terraces that overlook the waters and accord a view of the picturesque landscape. Well-known restaurants will also serve international cuisine including Italian, Japanese, Arabic and Indian varieties. Spread over a total floor area of 6,222 square metres comprising retail and F&B outlets, the Souk promises to be the ultimate destination not only for tourists but also for Abu Dhabi residents.
