Golf’s Four ’Majors’ Trophies Land In Abu Dhabi

Fans and spectators attending this week’s Abu Dhabi Golf Championship (ADGC) are in for a real treat with the news that Etihad Airways will display the four golf "Major" trophies at the airline’s stand in the tented village. It is the very first time the world famous Claret Jug (Open Championship), US Open Championship Cup, US Masters Trophy and Wannamaker Trophy (PGA Championship) have been exhibited in the same location at the same time. Etihad Airways, a diamond sponsor of the ADGC for the fourth consecutive year, flew the four trophies into Abu Dhabi which is another illustration of the impact the UAE’s capital is having on the world of golf. Peter Baumgartner, Etihad Airways’ executive vice president marketing and product, said: "This is the first time that The US Masters, The Open, The US Open and the USPGA have been brought together in one place at the same time. "Etihad is proud to bring golf fans a rare glimpse of these iconic trophies, especially with two of the three 2008 Major champions - Trevor Immelman and double Major winner Padraig Harrington - both playing in this year’s Abu Dhabi Golf Championship. The Abu Dhabi Golf Championships runs from Thursday 15 to Sunday 18 January at the Abu Dhabi Golf Club. As the diamond sponsor and official airline for the 2009 ADGC, Etihad is involved in a series of promotional activities surrounding the tournament as well as flying the players, officials and their equipment to the UAE. One such promotion is the Etihad Airways’ "around the world" putting challenge that has taken place during the weekend at Al Wahda Mall in Abu Dhabi and will also feature throughout the ADGC.
