ADCCI, GACCI Discuss Cooperation

Officials of the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ADCCI), headed by Salah Salim bin Omair Al-Shamsi, Chairman of both the UAE Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry and the ADCCI met at the ADCCI premises here today with a delegation from the German-Arab Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GACCI), led by Dr. Thomas Bakh, GACCI Chairman. They discussed cooperation between the two sides and other issues which would help boost economic and technological ties between them and uplift joint economic works to greater heights. In a key note address, Al-Shamsi said the economies of both UAE and the Abu Dhabi emirate are one of the biggest in the Gulf region, thanks to the rapid development of the UAE national economy and the comprehensive development being achieved in all sectors of the economy, the public utilities, infrastructure, commercial projects, industrialisation, social services and the services sector, in general, adding that "the ADCC still has a lot of investment opportunities to offer our trade partners from various parts of the world". He noted that Germany occupies a special place among UAE trade partners, being at the top of the list of exporting countries to the UAE and Abu Dhabi. He said trade exchange had skyrocketed by the end of 2007 surging to AED27.3 billion compared to AED22.7 billion at the end of 2006. Al-Shamsi urged German industrial firms to seize the various opportunities on offer in Abu Dhabi for mutual interest. He said the ADCCI wants to see more German participation in new industrial ventures in Abu Dhabi.
