The Abu Dhabi Falcon Hospital (ADFH) has won the 34th International Award for Tourist, Hotel and Catering Industry (New Millennium Award) for its excellent tourism programme. The award recognizes organizations working in the tourism, hotel and catering industry.
The ADFH is the first public falcon hospital in the UAE. It opened of its doors in October 1999 and recorded a patient influx of more than 31,500 patients, in the first nine years of existence. In recent years, the ADFH emerged as one of the most reputed falcon hospitals in the Gulf region and is now considered the largest falcon hospital in the world.
“Our tourism programme has been very successful. It was rated 86 out of 100 by an international travel community website and ADFH is considered a ‘must see’ attraction in Abu Dhabi. This award is another outstanding achievement,” said Dr. Margit Muller, Director of ADFH.
Since the ADFH launched its tourism programme in 2007, demand to visit the Hospital has increased sharply. Visitors are offered a unique and unforgettable experience of cultural tourism and eco tourism. Guided tours of the Hospital are available in English, Arabic, French and German, twice daily Sunday - Thursday.
An online booking system for visitors will be launched soon by the Hospital on its website www.falconhospital.com. This will allow easy and fast access to book guided tours.
In 2008, the ADFH witnessed an increase of visitor influx by 168%, compared to 2007. The ADFH has promoted its tourism programme at the World Travel Market, UK, (November 2007), International Tourism Fair, Germany (March 2008) and Top-Resa, France (September 2008). It will participate in the International Tourism Fair in Berlin, Germany in March 2009. Moreover, the Hospital has a strong network with major tour operators and hotels.
The award was granted by the publishing house of the Editorial Office, in collaboration with the Trade Leaders Club. The award was presented in Madrid, Spain and the ceremony was attended by Trade Leaders Club members, diplomats and various officials from Spain’s tourism industry. Following this award, ADFH has been granted membership in the Trade Leaders’ Club.
Following high demand from tourists to visit the ADFH, a souvenir shop has opened its doors. The Hospital is also currently setting up meeting and conference facilities that provide the highest standards in a tranquil and beautiful environment.
