International Fetal Congress Underway In Al Ain


Forum to provide health care providers in the UAE with the latest developments in perinatal medicine










Tawam Hospital in affiliation with Johns Hopkins Medicine and Faculty of Medicine and Health Services, UAE University, announced today that the three day conference ‘International Fetal Congress 2009,’ is underway at the Intercontinental Hotel, Al Ain. With fetal congenital abnormalities and preterm labor the leading cause for perinatal mortality in the UAE, international speakers at the congress will be discussing the latest developments in perinatal medicine. Topics discussed at the 2009 congress will include; central nervous system, renal tract, cardiac abnormalities, genetic and chromosomal abnormalities, skeletal abnormalities, multi fetal pregnancy and invasive procedures, medical disorders in pregnancy, first trimester sonogram, preterm labour, intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR) “It is our hope that this congress will generate substantial information so that health care providers can successfully promote perinatal care services throughout the UAE and GCC,” said H.E. Dr. Ali Al Obadli, Director Clinical Affairs, SEHA The conference will provide a forum for the exchange of ideas and knowledge concerning current research and its applications in the field of fetal medicine. It will be a rich three-day program, and will be in the form of plenary lectures, symposia, workshops, oral and poster presentations covering a wide variety of themes. In addition, special sessions will focus on the Middle East. The congress is being held under the patronage of HH Sheikh Fatima Bint Mubarak, Mother of the Nation, President of Family Development Foundation, President of the General Women Union and is organized by the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Faculty of Medicine and Health Services, UAE University in collaboration with the International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and gynaecology (ISUOG). Participating bodies at the congress are; Tawam Hospital, Al Ain Medical University of Vienna, Emirates Perinatal Society (member of Emirates Medical Association) and the Arab Association of Fetal Maternal Medicine. Tawam Hospital, which is managed by John Hopkins Medicine is owned and operated by SEHA, the Abu Dhabi Health Services Company [which is responsible for the curative activities of all the public hospitals and clinics in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.]
