Top Human Resources Award For Head Of Projects











Etihad Airways’ head of projects, Abdul Basit Al Rawahi, has been presented with a Human Resources Leadership award at the World Human Resources Congress in India. The awards, which are governed by the Global Advisory Council and took place at the Taj Lands End Hotel in Mumbai, recognise individuals across the world who have excelled in the field of human resources. Abdul Basit was credited for his part in transforming Etihad’s human resources with the use of best practices and instilling a culture of continuous improvement. He was also commended for providing strategic leadership, management and guidance. James Hogan, Etihad Airways’ chief executive, said: “Abdul Basit has shown a great understanding and commitment to human resources and we are extremely proud that he is a part of Etihad’s development of people, particularly the terrific work he has done with Emirati nationals in the airline.” In addition to his role at Etihad Abdul Basit also regularly addresses HR industry conferences such as IIR; the IQPC (International Quality and Productivity Centre) and Jacob Fleming. Mr Al Rawahi said: “To be honoured by the World Human Resources Congress is a great achievement for me both on a personal and professional level. Etihad continues to develop its human resources services across the company and I am very proud to play a role in this important field.” Abdul Basit was also recently given a place in the prestigious international “Who’s Who of World Professionals” book for 2009. The World Human Resources Congress meets annually and aims to provide its members with support, skills and knowledge in the different spheres of HR such as changing demands and increased opportunities and requirements.
