Abu Dhabi Classics announce education partnership with Vienna Philharmonic

Under the patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Sultan Bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage, the Abu Dhabi Classics offers an impressive schedule of side events in connection with the upcoming UAE debut of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. As part of the Abu Dhabi Classic’s mission to combine concerts of world class artists with sustainable programs for the UAE community, Till Janczukowicz, Executive Director of the Abu Dhabi Classics announced various initiatives around the Vienna Philharmonic’s debut visit to the UAE. All events offer access free of charge. Selected members of the world-renowned orchestra are arriving prior to the concerts in Al Ain and Abu Dhabi and work with local children. The result will be presented on Saturday, 14 March 2009 in a concert at 13:00 hours in the Emirates Palace Auditorium. The family and children event will be designed by the orchestra’s Education Officer. A celebration of youth and music entitled “Wunderkinder”, translated to “Genius Children”, the concert will feature school students from Abu Dhabi making music with members of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. The concert will also make special reference to the childhood of classical composers Mozart and Mendelssohn. One hour before the Vienna Philharmonic’s concert on 14 March 2009 at 19:00 hours, the Vienna Philharmonic’s Chairman Clemens Hellsberg will introduce the public to the history of one of the world’s most distinguished symphony orchestras. The introduction will take place in the foyer of the Emirates Palace Auditorium. All music lovers and young musicians are invited to meet Chinese pianist Lang Lang on 15 March 2009 at 13:00 hours in a master class also in the Emirates Palace Auditorium. A leading instrumentalist of our time, Lang Lang will introduce young musicians and music lovers to the beauty of the piano. Talented students from the UAE will perform for him in a master class.
