Al Ain Classics Brings Charm To Al Jahili Fort With The Vienna Philharmonic Chamber Ensemble











Under the patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Sultan bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage, the ongoing Al Ain Classics continued yesterday, Wednesday 12 March, 2009. An ensemble consisting of members of the world-renowned Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra performed in an outdoor courtyard, under a full moon, before a sold-out audience in the breathtaking Al Jahili Fort. The musical programme commenced with W. A. Mozart’s Quintet for Violin, 2 Violas, Horn and Cello in E flat major, before progressing to F. Mendelssohn’s Octet for 4 Violins, 2 Violas and 2 Celli in E flat major. The Chamber ensemble precedes the performance scheduled for Friday 13 March, 2009 at the Jahili Fort, which will see Zubin Mehta conducting the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra that is considered one of the finest orchestras in the world. In addition, Al Ain Classics will continue until March 20, 2009 with a concert by singer Amal Maher and the Selim Sahab Orchestra on 12 March, ending with Shakespeare’s play Richard III in Arabic on 20 March.
