Abu Dhabi Airports Company Signs Partnership Agreement With German Aerospace Companies

ADAC signs cooperation agreement with Aircraft Electronic Engineering GmbH for aircraft electronics production site in Al Ain

Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC) today signed Memorandums of Understanding with three respected German aerospace companies, Aerotech Peissenberg GmbH & Co, Aircraft Electronic Engineering GmbH and MT Aerospace at the Paris Air Show, Le Bourget Airport, further strengthening the strong ties that already exist in the aerospace sector between the UAE and Germany.

The cooperation agreement with Aircraft Electronic Engineering will lead to the establishment of a production site for electronic and avionic devices within the Al Ain Aerospace cluster, and the development of electronic and electrical solutions for avionic systems.

The MoU between ADAC and Aerotech Peissenberg aims to utilise the company’s expertise in manufacturing complex and highly stressed components for aero engines and industrial gas turbines, to establish a quality engine parts manufacturing centre in Al Ain.

ADAC and MT Aerospace will together pursue opportunities in the aero structures field, with a goal to establish a production site in Al Ain.

The bond between the UAE aerospace industry and its German counterpart has strong foundations, and earlier today ADAC announced a twin cluster agreement between the Al Ain Aerospace Cluster and the BavAIRian Aerospace Cluster. The developments and partnerships announced today are in line with ADAC’s greater development strategy for diversifying its revenue stream and investing in the Emirate’s strong aerospace industry.

HE Khalifa Mohamed Al Mazrouei, Chairman of ADAC, commented on the strengthened ties with the German aerospace industry: “ADAC is firmly committed to developing a centre for excellence in Al Ain for the aerospace sector, and we are delighted to welcome three such highly regarded companies such as Aerotech Peissenberg, Aircraft Electronic Engineering and MT Aerospace. The aerospace and aviation industry in Germany remains one of the highest regarded world-wide, and the collective knowledge and skill base is exemplary. Partnerships such as these facilitate sophisticated knowledge sharing which can ultimately further our common goals and strengthen the industry.”

Mr Gerd Kubin, Chief Executive Officer, Aerotech Peissenberg, said: “Aerotech Peissenberg is proud of this partnership, which will facilitate a strengthening of Al Ain Aerospace Cluster’s position as a future location of choice for small to medium sized enterprises within the aerospace industry. We are excited to be part of it so early in its development and to develop a centre for aviation manufacturing excellence.”

Mr Albert Gasser, Chief Executive Officer, Aircraft Electronic Engineering, said: “Straddling major road networks leading to population centres in the UAE and beyond, and with the ideal conditions for developing as an air cargo hub, Al Ain provides the infrastructure we look for when establishing a new site. Furthermore, with ADAC as our partner, we receive all the support we could ask for.”

MT Aerospace AG, Augsburg, is a subsidiary of the European aerospace and technology concern OHB Technology AG, with approximately 600 employees and a turnover of 120 milllion in the last calendar year. It manufactures components and subsystems for the aviation and aerospace industry, including antennas and mechatronics. MT Aerospace produces 10% of the ARIANE 5 launcher making it the programme’s largest German supplier.

Aircraft Electronic Engineering GmbH specialises in electrical and electronic solutions for avionic systems and has partnered with some of the leading companies in the global civil and military avionic industry since its inception in 1987. The company develops, manufactures, repairs and maintains electronic systems in customized single- and series production on the base of EASA part 21 and 145 certifications. Due to its huge experience in aviation systems, Aircraft Electronic Engineering GmbH is able to play a major part even in complex civil and military projects and to shape future-oriented technologies in several research projects.

Aerotech Peissenberg GmbH & Co is part of Drosten Aerotech, a company with three production sites in Germany, France and the Czech Republic. It is recognised worldwide for its specialised manufacturing of compressor and turbine discs, rotating and static air seals, casings, hubs and shafts. Aerotech Peissenberg specialises in Concurrent Engineering, Project Management and Prototyping up to on-time delivery of small to large series lots for commercial and military aero engine applications.
