Sharjah Summer Promotions 2009 Unveils Exciting Line-Up Of Activities |

Annual summer festival targets to attract more shoppers and tourists under the theme ’Our Summer is Beautiful’The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) today (Tuesday, June 9, 2009) announced at a press conference, held at the new SCCI headquarters, the launch of this year’s Sharjah Summer Promotions 2009 and the major sponsors associated with the event. The annual summer festival will play host to a number of cultural, recreational, environmental and promotional activities and events throughout Sharjah starting June 13, 2009 until July 25th, 2009. Attending the press conference were officials and members of the SCCI headed by Ibrahim Rashid Al Jarwan, SCCI Director of Economic Affairs. Also present during the event were representatives from different Sharjah Government Departments and private sector institutions that are participating in the event. The Sharjah Summer Promotions 2009 is an annual 40-day event held under the patronage of SCCI in cooperation with the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority, Sharjah Economic Development Department, Sharjah Family Development Centers, Al Qasba and Sharjah TV. The event coincides with other summer festivities held throughout the UAE and allows Sharjah residents and visitors to take advantage of special promotions and sales in various shopping centers and shops, thereby boosting Sharjah’s economic activity. As part of the festivities, SCCI will be organising different promotional and commercial events like major sales in Sharjah’s shopping malls, leisure & entertainment activities, special exhibitions and competitions. One of the major attractions is the opening of a Games, Entertainment and Big Fun Village at the Al Qasba area, which will be the venue for shows, workshops and stands exhibiting different products and services. Speaking at the press conference, Ibrahim Rashid Al Jarwan said, “The Sharjah Summer Promotions is one of the most awaited events in this emirate because of the ideal promotional platform it provides to the local businesses and commercial establishments. This event has become an important tool to help boost economic activity and further promote Sharjah as a major tourism destination. Moreover, SCCI remains steadfast in its commitment to be a major contributor to Sharjah’s growth along with other government departments and private sectors in order to develop investment projects and to attract more tourists, visitors and shoppers especially in the midst of the financial crisis.” Other events slated for the festival include activities hosted by the Sharjah Civil Defence Department, children’s shows, and cultural exhibitions at both the Sharjah Natural History Museum and Sharjah Heritage Museum. There will also be a series of medical and health awareness events throughout the emirate, providing free medical check-ups, which include diabetes testing, blood pressure monitoring, cholesterol testing and consultations for chronic diseases. During Sharjah Summer Promotions 2009, Sharjah’s eastern region will also be having recreational activities and sea tours in Dibba, Khor Fakkan and Kalba. Activities will also include shows featuring traditional performances and a children’s theater. Special competitions will also be aired on radio and television, in cooperation with Sharjah TV and Radio. Special events like promotions and festivals are organised by the SCCI in an effort to help bolster Sharjah’s economic activity and strengthen communication ties between the different members of the emirate’s business community. These series of events and festivals encourage emirate-wide participation as the various social, cultural, environmental and traditional activities cater to Sharjah’s diverse community. |
