Sharjah Lightens Up With A Fascinating Celebration











Al Qasba has celebrated yesterday (April 14th, 2009) the 4th year anniversary of the Etisalat-Eye of the Emirates, the giant Ferris wheel that was opened to the general public in 2005. The celebration which started at 8:30 pm included a wide range of events and activities, which made the night an unforgettable one for the visitors.

Viewing a fascinating mix of colors, laser shows, UV shows and water curtain videos and enjoying a musical festival for more than two hours, visitors were amazed by the breath-taking fireworks show that lighted the sky of the cultural capital of UAE. The audience was also dazzled by the astonishing Phoenix Pyro and Phoenix Silk shows, which were part of the rich ceremony program.

Commenting on the celebration, Dina Al Nakhi, Events Manager, Al Qasba Development Authority said: “Year after year, we leverage our efforts and widen our vision to promote Sharjah as a major touristic destination in UAE. Since its inception in 2005, The Etisalat-Eye of the Emirates has been a major attraction to visitors coming to Al Qasba and Sharjah and we are highly pleased with the visitors’ turnout for the 4th year anniversary.”

Positioned as a popular destination in Sharjah, Al Qasba offers a unique mix of high quality dining, entertainment, cultural events and lucrative business opportunities. The Etisalat -Eye of the Emirates is a giant Ferris wheel that offers 360 degree aerial views of the Buheira cornice, lagoons and landscape. The 60 meters high wheel, designed in Netherlands, has 42 cabins that can carry 336 passengers at any given time.
