Bigger And More Buoyant: The Abu Dhabi Yacht Show Returns In February 2010 With Greater Exhibition Space And All Yachts In-Water

The Abu Dhabi Yacht Show (ADYS), the Middle East’s first and only show exclusively for yachts at least 25 meters long, will return from 25 to 27 February 2010 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre and Marina (ADNEC), featuring more exhibition space and format changes designed to showcase exciting yacht models even more effectively to attending high net worth individuals.

The 2009 inaugural event saw sales of vessels totaling US$200 million (AED 735 million), confirming the growing importance of Abu Dhabi as a leading super- and mega-yacht destination, and establishing ADYS as the best place to view many of the world’s most exclusive boats. The show is organized by Informa Yacht Group (IYG), promoters of the world’s leading boat and yachting events, whose portfolio includes running the Monaco Yacht Show and The Super Yacht Cup for 19 and 12 years respectively.

“ADYS is returning in early 2010 with a fresh look and new format,” says Franck Dailles, Group Director of IYG. “The second edition of the show will feature more exhibition space and around 150 exhibitors, and we expect to again showcase many breath-taking models. To display the industry’s latest offerings even more fully, all yachts will be in- water and we will hold the exhibition near the marina in front of the boats. ADYS 2010 is definitely going to be an unforgettable exhibition to visit and do business at.”

ADYS was created to meet the needs of the Middle East yachting market, as well as the market in the greater Mediterranean area and beyond. Bringing together some of world’s leading shipyards, and a growing number of manufacturers, service companies, yacht brokers, interior designers, consultants, and marina developers, ADYS 2010 will offer a comprehensive overview of the latest luxury yacht products and technological innovations. Confirming the growing appeal of the event, Horus, maker of luxury watches, jewelry and fine leather goods has recently joined the ADYS list of Associate Sponsors, while Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA) returns as Headline Sponsor.

Andy Treadwell, Managing Director of Informa Yacht Group says that the Gulf region is one of the most promising markets for continued growth in luxury products: “There are very strong indicators for expansion in the Gulf’s yachting sector, including the billions of dollars being invested to provide berthing space on reclamation projects and the increase in export of yachts from the United States and Europe. The numbers of berths is growing and the number of yachts is growing; we see this trend continuing for years to come.” There are currently about 9,000 berths in the six GCC member states, with plans to build another 7,000 by 2012.

As well as featuring the world’s most exclusive yachts and customer base, ADYS 2010 will offer great networking opportunities with a packed program of prestigious events including a Charity Gala Dinner and a Cocktail party.
ADYS 2009 saw more than 100 companies exhibiting and featured a flotilla of 23 Super- and Megayachts – some with price tags in excess of US$100 million (AED 367 million).
