Argentinian Magic Supremo In Summer In Abu Dhabi Mall Celebrations

Break Dancing And Martial Arts Get Al Wahda And Abu Dhabi Malls Into Family Carnival Spirit

Argentine illusion supremo Gaston Quieto – dubbed by international media as the ‘Just Impossible’ maestro, will be demonstrating his award-winning brand of magic which has won acclaim from former US President Bill Clinton, F1 legend Michael Shumacher, whose Ferrari he made ‘disappear,’ and flamboyant British entrepreneur Richard Branson, at the Summer in Abu Dhabi mall celebrations this weekend.

The Summer in Abu Dhabi family carnival spills over into Al Wahda and Abu Dhabi malls this Friday and Saturday with appearances by Quieto, a champion of Argentina’s ‘Jornados Magicas’ competition and a regular performer at Hollywood’s Magic Castle.

“Gaston’s brand of magic is a fusion of music, lights, choreography and theatrics that keeps the audience guessing long after the curtain has fallen,” said Faisal Al Sheikh, Events Section Head, Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA), which presents Summer in Abu Dhabi. “His 10 minute performances will serve up the latest and most original illusions in the magic business and provide the perfect interlude between other headline acts.”

Joining the carnival’s malls programme this weekend are a break dance group which will get youngsters involved in the modern movement form. Also on the weekend bill are demonstrations by the Los Angeles based martial arts group Side Swipe 3, which produces an action-packed performance. Side Swipe 3 blends traditional martial arts, including karate and Tae Kwon Do with gymnastics and acrobatics set to music.

“Side Swipe delivers an unmatched display of stamina, talent and strength,” explained Al Sheikh.

Side Swipe’s cast include Craig Henningsen, the current world Shorei-Ryu champion and a former two-time defending champion of the American Karate Association’s Grand Nationals Warrior Cup. Craig will be supported by Donald Mills who has won a continuous sparring world title in the World Sport Karate Federation and Seth Austin, a second degree black belt in American Kenpo and first degree black belt in Shorei-Ryu.

The Summer in Abu Dhabi malls programmes begin at 4pm this Friday and Saturday and run until 10pm.
