324 Driving Licences Withdrawn In Abu Dhabi Over Last 6 Months











The driving licences of 324 motorists were withdrawn in Abu Dhabi over the last six months when they reached limit of the cumulative traffic points, said the Department of Traffic and Patrols of Abu Dhabi police.

Those stripped of their driving licences; include 102 UAE nationals, 77 Arab nationals, 130 Asians and others. The traffic points were registered against them for committing various traffic accidents.

Col. Hamad Adeel Al Shamsi, director of the department, said when the cumulative traffic points reached 24 points, the licence is withdrawn as per the federal traffic law, adding that a motorist is suspended from driving in the first time for three months and six month suspension when the cumulative traffic points reach 24 points again. The motorist charged twice for exceeding the cumulative traffic points would not retrieve his licence unless re-trained at an accredited driving school.

He called on motorists to adhere to the traffic rules to avoid accidents and withdrawal of their driving licences.
