Air Arabia’s Centro Hotel To Complete Construction By April 2010

300-room hotel at Sharjah Airport to provide comfort and convenience for travelers seeking affordable luxury and functionality

Air Arabia, the first and largest low-cost carrier (LCC) in the Middle East and North Africa, announced today that construction of its 300-room three-star Centro Hotel at Sharjah Airport will be complete by April 2010. The concrete structure for all four floors of the hotel has been completed, and the hotel is anticipated to be completed below budget, highlighting the project’s operational efficiency.

Air Arabia announced the launch of the Centro Hotel in early 2007, following the signing of a management agreement between Air Arabia and Rotana Hotels to manage this property under their innovative Centro by Rotana brand, offering affordable, superior-class accommodation and hospitality.

Centro by Rotana, Sharjah Airport, will be highly distinctive, expressed through its contemporary architecture and unique living spaces. While dramatic exteriors will reflect Centro’s modern style, its crisp interiors will provide the essentials for today’s traveler, including advanced technologies.

The property includes both standard rooms and suites, offering comfort and convenience for travelers passing through one of the region’s fastest-growing airports as well as for visitors to the emirate. Centro by Rotana, Sharjah Airport, will redefine the concept of affordable comfort by offering superior-class accommodation and genuine Arabian hospitality to both business and individual travelers.

“Centro by Rotana at the Sharjah Airport is a key element of Air Arabia’s expansion strategy,” said Adel Ali, Group Chief Executive Officer of Air Arabia. “We are pleased to announce that, despite challenging economic conditions, the project is on track and will be ready to welcome guests by 2010. In addition to enhancing the services offered by Air Arabia, the hotel will also strengthen ancillary revenues. We are confident that Centro will further improve the hospitality experience at Sharjah Airport.”

Unique features of Centro by Rotana, Sharjah Airport, include a full casual-style dining area, in-room wireless Internet connectivity and entertainment, and a range of personal amenities. This is combined with such comforts as gymnasiums and swimming pools, together with on-site business facilities such as private meeting rooms and business centres.

In the first five months of 2009, passenger traffic at Sharjah Airport reached 2.33 million, up by 11 per cent compared to the same period last year. According to the 2008 World Airport Traffic Report released by Airports Council International, Sharjah International Airport saw annual traffic growth of 22.1 per cent in 2008, and was ranked third among the world’s 25 fastest-growing airports.
