Baniyas Investment and Development Company - the investment arm of Bani Yas Sports Club - today announced its sponsorship of the upcoming 15th Al Ain Ramadan Soccer and Various Games Tournament, to be held between August 28th and September 11th, 2009.

The football tournament, which also includes other sporting events such as Table Tennis, Chess, Snooker, PlayStation and Backgammon, will be held under the Patronage and support of His Highness Sheikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and UAE Minister of Interior, and under the patronage of H.H. We believe that sponsoring this tournament is in line with our vision to support sports and social development whether through the construction of various facilities or the sponsorship of teams and tournaments, thereby promoting sportsmanship and competitiveness."

"At Bawabat Al Sharq, we are already building the region’s first international FIFA standard football stadium, considered one of the pillars of the project, accommodating 20000 spectators" added Mr. Wael.

Bawabat Al Sharq is Baniyas’ first luxury mixed use development community encompassing residential, retail, entertainment and sporting facilities. Through this community development, Baniyas aspires to foster various aspects of life, ranging from education through to healthy lifestyle and sports.

The soccer tournaments will be held simultaneously at the UAE University Stadium and the Al Ain Police Officers Club Stadium. They will also run concurrent with the National Campaign against Diabetes 2009 under the theme - ’Towards a City Free of Diabetes’.
