As the public prepares for huge ceremonies in honour of the 38th UAE National Day, Al Qasba—the premiere tourist, cultural and entertainment destination in the emirate of Sharjah—has arranged for a full day’s worth of fun and excitement for the entire family to enjoy.

Dina Al Nakhi, Events Manager Al Qasba, says that the celebration this year is organized in collaboration with many government bodies and charity organizations. “On behalf of Al Qasba, I would like to express our sincerest congrats to the rulers and people of UAE for the special day. With the many activities that are planned for the 38th anniversary, we are looking forward for a successful event,” commented Al Nakhi.

The first event on the National Day program actually began on November 24th and 25th as Al Qasba hosted an Arts Workshop in collaboration with University of Sharjah. Paying tribute to the country’s 38th anniversary, the workshop saw 38 young artists participate in designing 38 individual paintings using a total of 38 unique colours.

The paintings are meant to reveal the essence of National Day and the emotional meaning of the event for UAE citizens. Prepared a week in advance of the actual holiday, the paintings will be on display from 6pm – 8pm at Al Qasba on December 2nd.

One of the other major events hosted on National Day at Al Qasba will be the All Women Unity Drive, which is an official National Day event registered under the patronage of the Ministry of Culture and Youth. Sponsored by the Woman Auto Racing Club (WARC), the Unity Drive is a campaign to encourage female patriotism throughout the UAE as club member’s drive through all seven emirates starting from the capital of Abu Dhabi and ending in Fujaira. As the sun casts its final rays of light over the Al Qasba compound, a specially-made UAE flag will be displayed on December 3rd from 7pm – 10pm, which the designing company SIDAR is publicizing the as the largest flag in the world. The 208m X 109m Flag is tailored by 145 tailor with the help of 380 assistant to carry the flag during displays. Shortly after the flag display an Al Harbia band will perform traditional songs in coordination with Emirati dancers from 6pm – 10pm.
