LIVE To Broadcast 2009 FIFA Club World Cup In UAE











LIVE, Abu Dhabi Media Company’s wholly-owned outside broadcast (OB) subsidiary, was awarded by the Hostbroadcaster ART/AlJazeera to overtake the technical host production of the 2009 FIFA Club World Cup in High Definition quality that takes place in Abu Dhabi from 9-19 December 2009. The match will be played in Abu Dhabi’s biggest stadiums, Zayed Sports City Stadium and Mohammed Bin Zayed Stadium, both of which are currently undergoing extensive renovations in preparation for the tournament.

The winning team of the current UAE Football League season Al Ahli will be invited to compete alongside the six continental club champions, which include Barcelona (Europe), TP Mazembe (Africa) , Pohang Steelers FC (Asia), Atlante Futbol Club (North and Central America), Auckland City FC (Oceania), Club Estudiantes de La Plata (South America) The seven teams will compete over eight matches for a prize fund of USD 16.5 million, with the winners earning USD 5 million. To ensure high-quality broadcast of the football match, LIVE will provide high-definition OB vans as well as a professional operations team.

LIVE had the exclusive rights to transmit the UAE Professional League Championships and the Arabic poetry program, “Shaer Al Million”. It has also broadcast the Middle East International Film Festival, Capital World Tennis Championship, Operette Zayed and the Dream, the cricket championship, The Gulf Cup 2009, the European golf championships, the launch of metro Dubai, Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, and a list of matches including Manchester City vs UAE in Abu Dhabi, and Brazil vs England in Doha.
