IDEX organisers, ADNEC (Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company), have reported tremendous response to the marketing and sales campaign that is well underway for IDEX 2011, the 10th anniversary edition of the Middle East and North Africa’s largest defence show.

Major local and international players with stakes in the defense and security sector including Lockheed Martin, EADS, Saab and the UAE’s Offset Program Bureau have already signed as IDEX 2011 exhibitors. 26,500 sqm out of a total 36,000 sqm of indoor exhibit space has already been reserved more than 14 months in advance of the show.

IDEX 2011 will be held 20 – 24 February 2011 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE. IDEX (International Defence Exhibition & Conference) showcases defence and security technology for land, sea and air operations and attracts national and international delegations, procurement officials, industry analysts and military strategists, besides the world’s leading defence contractors.

His Excellency Ali Bin Harmal Al Dhaheri, Managing Director of ADNEC said: “We are very pleased with the excellent response from prospective participants to IDEX’s next edition in 2011. This reflects IDEX’s stature as a premier industry event that has grown in prominence over the last two decades, thanks primarily to the guidance and constant support of HH Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE; HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai; and HH General Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.”

“ADNEC is honoured to once again have the opportunity to host and organise IDEX. We will continue working closely with the UAE Armed Forces GHQ to draw on the successful features from IDEX’s past, and introduce new innovations for IDEX 2011,” added HE Al Dhaheri.

The IDEX team has participated in a number of industry events over the past few months including DSEi (London) and the Dubai Air Show, where they have met with prospective exhibitors, sales agents and national pavilion organisers. 20 pavilions including the USA, the UK, Germany, Italy, France, Turkey, Switzerland, Austria, Czech Republic, Sweden, South Africa, Russia, China and Australia are among the country pavilions confirmed so far, with the USA and Turkey increasing space requirements by 30 percent and 20 percent respectively. Besides these 20 pavilions which are repeat participants, Poland will host a country pavilion for the very first time at IDEX 2011.

The IDEX team will continue to promote the show at a number of other industry events over the coming months including DefExpo (New Delhi, India); DIMDEX (Doha, Qatar); SOFEX (Amman, Jordan) and Eurosatory (Paris, France).

A new brand identity created specifically for IDEX’s 10th anniversary edition, and the IDEX 2011 website (www.idexuae.ae), have recently been unveiled.
