Arab Youth Media Forum Honours Nashwa Al Ruwaini

Nashwa Al Ruwaini, popular media personality and CEO and Board Member of Pyramedia, has received the Arab Youth Media Forum Award for the Best Television Personality in the Arab world. Nashwa was honoured for her vast experience in the media spanning over more than 20 years and her continued effort in presenting the issues most important to Arabs through her weekly talk show, ‘Nashwa’.

Receiving the award on Nashwa’s behalf was Mohamed Bahgat, scriptwriter of the ‘Nashwa’ show. Also honoured at the Forum were other high-profile figures including Hamdi Qandeel for Best Arab Media Personality, His Highness Prince Waleed bin Talal for Best Arab Media and TV Personality for 2009 and MBC presenter Ola Faris for Best Young Arab Media Personality.

“I am very honoured and thank the Board of Directors of the forum for encouraging excellence in the fields of media and journalism and for launching several media initiatives that play a major role in opening the lines of communication between the media in the Middle East and the rest of the world,” said Nashwa. “The forum is aimed at promoting media skills in the youth of today, they are the future of the industry and will carry with them a perfect balance of modernity and tradition while keeping in mind the Arab viewers when launching pilot projects.”

The ‘Nashwa’ show has, throughout the past four years, pushed the boundaries of talk shows and issues addressed in the Arab World. Hosted by Nashwa, the program has tackled important and often taboo subjects that lie at the base of Arab societies. While many were playing it safe, Nashwa uncovered the secrets lying below the surface of the shiny exterior, earning the trust of guest and viewers to tell their stories the way they want them to be told.
