Korean Maestro Myung Whun Chung Impressed By Abu Dhabi Classics











Maestro Myung Whun Chung, the world-famous Korean Music Director of the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France considered Abu Dhabi one of the musical capitals of the world.

The statement came from the one of the world’s most acclaimed interpreters of French music fallowing his performance in the Emirates Palace in the capital last month as part of the year long program of Abu Dhabi Classics organized by Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage (ADACH) where world’s most high-profile orchestras are hosted until May 2010.

Chyng said "I have nowhere else in the world seen a programme combining a first rate concert series and a profound education programme of such high standard; I was more than surprised by the quality of Abu Dhabi Classics".

"Abu Dhabi is taking its place between the music capitals of the world, the country should be proud of Abu Dhabi Classics", he added.

The Orchestre Philharobique de Radio France performed under baton of its maestro Myung-Whun Chung, two of the most brilliantly works in the French orchestral repertoire; Berlioz’s Symphony Fantastic from the early 19th century and the full version of Ma Mere L’Oye "Mother Goose" for Maurice Ravel from the 20th century.

Maestro Myung-Whun Chung served as music director of the Paris Opera from 1989 to 1994 and has received numerous awards from the French critics as well as the prestigious Legion d’honneur from the French government for his contribution to French musical life.
