After a three month long tour of the Arab world, the 48 poets of the hit show have been chosen, the stage has been set, the judges have perfected their critiques and Pyramedia productions has successfully launched season four of the acclaimed hit show, the Million’s Poet.

The season four premiere of the poetry TV competition took off last night at the home of poetry, Al Raha Beach Theatre in Abu Dhabi with the complete crew of Pyramedia anticipating yet another successful year. With three years of experience under their belts, the stage and lighting designers, sound engineers, producers and director have come together yet again to introduce a more elaborate production underscored with only the best and most innovative in TV production technology.

The Millions’ Poet is held under the patronage of His Highness General Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi & Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and is produced by Pyramedia for the Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage.

The Al Jahili Fort is the focus of this year’s stage design by British set designer Christopher George. The Fort in Al Ain is one of the largest forts in the country, built in the 1890s by Sheikh Zayed bin Khalifa Al Nahyan and was home to various members of the ruling family. The Fort acts as the central essence of the stage and is the focal point through which everything emerges.

A 42m LED screen, the first of its kind in the UAE, provides a backdrop to the stage and features moving graphics to illuminate the stage and the poets. German lighting designer Harvey Scherer brings the whole set to life using a variety of lighting including GLP products which are used for the first time in the UAE. LED strips, tiles, moving heads and halogen lights are all used to light the stage, the poets chair and the judge’s desk.

As an interactive television show, audiences at Al Raha Beach Theatre are invited every week to vote for their favorite poets with voting keypads. This year will see wireless keypads attached to every seat with each audience member’s vote transmitted wirelessly to a base system and data then transferred on to a computer.
