MoFT Releases Bulletin On Export Opportunities In Indonesia











The Ministry of Foreign Trade (MoFT) has released a new publication on the development of export markets, focusing on the Indonesian market and export opportunities for products made in the UAE.

This comes as part of the ministry’s efforts in promoting awareness and expands the knowledge base of information to help UAE companies to access foreign markets and increase competitiveness of national products as well as to increase its share in foreign markets.

The bulletin released by the Department of Trade Analysis and Information at the Ministry noted that Indonesia is one of the largest economies of South East Asia and a member of the G-20, and a nation with a population boasting of large and multi-market capabilities and great potential to accommodate various products.

Indonesia ranked 20th globally in terms of imports, according to the world trade report for the 2009 the total value standing at $ 126 billion in 2008 representing one per cent of total world imports, which focused on machinery and equipment, chemicals, fuel and food. Indonesia also ranked 21st in terms of exports to the world countries focusing on oil and gas, electrical appliances, plywood, textiles, rubber. The total value of exports stood at $139 billion representing1.1 per cent of total world exports, noted the bulletin.

It also gave a detailed presentation on trade between the UAE and Indonesia, which witnessed a 15.9pc increase in 2008 compared to that of 2007 at a total value of $ 1.9bn.
