Flash Entertainment supports Special Care Centre through ’Donate a Brick’ campaign on New Year’s Eve

Public encouraged to donate AED 5 by SMS at the Capitala World Tennis Championship and Rihanna events

Flash Entertainment, the Abu Dhabi-based live event consultancy, has pledged its support for the Special Care Centre in its bid to build a new campus for those in need of special care and rehabilitation.

Flash, the award-winning company behind this year’s Capitala World Tennis Championship and Rihanna’s New Year’s Eve performance, will be encouraging those at the New Year’s Eve events to ‘Donate a Brick’ towards the important community project, driven by Nahtam Social Responsibility, just by pledging AED 5 via SMS – the cost of one brick.

It will take five million bricks to build the new Special Care Centre campus, which at full capacity will enrol 420 students from early detection and diagnosis through to adulthood and independence. It will be one of the first fully accessible buildings in the UAE, using state-of-the-art technology designed specifically for people with special needs.

John Lickrish, Managing Director of Flash Entertainment, said: “It has always been of great importance to us to give back to the local community, whether it be through creating world-class events for everyone to enjoy, or giving our support to important local organisations such as Good Heart, the fundraising arm of the Special Care Centre.
“We hope those who attend our New Year’s Eve events will join with us to support the cause and help in creating something for the community, from the community.”

Good Heart has so far raised just under two million bricks through the ‘Donate a Brick’ campaign, and hopes to break ground at the new campus of the Special Care Centre in early 2010Isabelle Le Bon-Poonoosamy, Founder of Good-Heart and Vice-President, Nahtam Social Responsibility added: “We are delighted to have the support of Flash Entertainment in that much needed SMS campaign for ‘Donate a Brick’. We have no doubt that the local community will take their lead and get behind the event too.”
