SEDD’s Emiratisation Rate Reached 90% By End Of 2009

The Sharjah Economic Development Department (SEDD) attracted significant attention from citizens with academic skills at the 12th National Career Fair 2010, launched by H.H. Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qassimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, at the Sharjah Expo Centre and running from 24 to 26 February 2010.

SEDD’s participation in the Fair is in line with its strategies for developing human resources, achieving a high rate of Emiratisation, offering employment opportunities, and attracting UAE citizens with skills in the fields of economics, administration and information technology who can support SEDD’s corporate structure and raise the quality of services it offers.

H.E. Ali bin Salim Al Mahmoud, SEDD Director General, said: "SEDD is keen on participating in the Career Fair each year to shed light on the Department’s social and national responsibilities towards Emirati citizens with skills and potential, whether by attracting available expertise or preparing graduates for government and economic fields of work".

"SEDD has proven many times that the door is open to everyone, and has supported this claim by accepting new employees each year. Employment opportunities are not only available during our participation at the Career Fair, they are available around the year, and SEDD will continue to attract more citizens with potential and skills or develop these skills in order to achieve required efficiency levels," he added.

Representing SEDD at the fair was the Department’s Quality and Control section, which also organized the stand. Employment applications were submitted to SEDD’s stand, and information about individuals seeking employment was collected, while SEDD representatives gave detailed descriptions of available job opportunities fitting the applicants’ expertise and information regarding the nature of these jobs, supervised the sorting process and selection of applicants for interviews, and answered questions raised by applicants. Individuals submitting employment applications were directed according to their skills and job preferences, while their suggestions will be examined in line with SEDD’s vision to achieve an even higher rate of Emiratisation that supports its organizational structure.

The total number of employees at SEDD reached 219 in 2009, with Emiratiaation rate of 90 percent. These figures are in line with the Department’s policy of adopting Emiratisation as a fundamental factor when choosing new employees.
