Sharjah Summer Promotions 2010 Commences With Series Of Promotional, Entertainment & Cultural Events

Summer event to boost business at shopping malls & traditional marketplace, create competitive environment for retail & service sectors

The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) formally opened ‘Sharjah Summer Promotions 2010’ recently. The summer campaign is being held in cooperation with various governmental departments and entities involved in economic and touristic affairs within the emirate of Sharjah. Running until July 20, 2010, Sharjah Summer Promotions is regarded as one of the most prominent entertainment, promotion, and marketing events organized by the Chamber every summer. It aims to stimulate business activities at shopping malls and traditional marketplaces and create a competitive environment for the retail and service sectors.

Sharjah Summer Promotions 2010 will be held simultaneously with other festivals across the country during the next 40 days and will introduce Sharjah’s local and Gulf visitors to various special promotional offers from different shopping malls and retail shops. The annual campaign will once again include awareness, entertainment, cultural, and traditional events that foster an atmosphere of leisure and fun throughout the summer vacation season.

Mohammed Ahmed Amin, Assistant Director General of SCCI’s Department of Economic and International Affairs, said: “Sharjah Summer Promotions reflects the Chamber’s commitment to fully supporting its members from the private sector. These kinds of promotional and marketing events play key roles in boosting economic activity and increasing sales within the retail sector. We want to reinforce the contributions of economic establishments and events to the local GDP and the emirate’s overall growth as part of our efforts to offset the effects of the ongoing global downturn.”

“Promotional campaigns are very helpful in increasing local industrial production, which in turn satisfies local market demand during seasons such as summer that usher in a considerable increase in sales and purchase ratios. Such offers allow other sectors, especially tourism, hospitality, and car rentals, to promote and market their services on a broader scale. This positively influences Sharjah’s entire business community,” added Amin.

Ibrahim Rashid Al-Jarwan, Director of the Department of Economic Affairs at SCCI and Head of the Coordination Committee of Sharjah Summer Promotions, said: “The program of events included in the current edition of Sharjah Summer Promotions was finalized after comprehensively studying the results of last year’s session and evaluating the concerns and positive feedback from the management of shopping malls, owners of retail shops, shoppers, and visitors. Our committees are exerting extra effort to make this campaign an effective vehicle for building up Sharjah’s stature as a leading tourist destination. We have formed a talented to team to organize entertainment and promotional activities that are highly effective in stimulating economic and marketing activities in Sharjah.”

“During the course of its supervision of the event’s workgroups, the Department of Economic held several consultative meetings with representatives from local shopping malls. In our sessions we thoroughly considered the opinions and suggestions relevant to the events to be held at the malls. We also formulated integrated plans aimed at enhancing cooperation and coordination among us as strategic partners in order to guarantee the success of this annual event,” added Al-Jarwan.

Sharjah Summer Promotions 2010 will feature several cultural, tourism and marketing events and activities which will take place all over Sharjah. Participants will offer major sales, discounts, contests and rewards to shoppers throughout the campaign’s run. Emiratis are expected to participate actively in the diverse economic, social, cultural, religious, environmental, and traditional sectors involved in the event.

The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry works closely with concerned government bodies to uplift the emirate’s image as an ideal tourist destination with an attractive family, entertainment and social environment. SCCI believes that this goal can be realized by organizing promotional events that serve as major marketing opportunities and reinforce the dynamism of Sharjah and its programs for economic development. Such activities increase investment opportunities for vital industries such as retail and tourism and are effective channels for enhancing the contributions of the private sector to the local economy.
