Shurooq Explores Ways Of Cooperation With Bee’ah As Part Of Drive To Implement Eco-Friendly Projects |

The Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) has discussed ways of cooperation with the Sharjah Environment Company (Bee’ah) as part of its drive to develop new environment-friendly projects in the emirate, and examine the possibility of transforming already existing projects into eco-friendly ones. Shurooq CEO, Marwan Jassim Al Sarkal recently held a meeting with Khaled Al Huraimel, general manager of Bee’ah, during which they discussed ways in which the two parties could work together to develop environmentally friendly projects. Shurooq is seeking to conclude partnerships with major local and international companies to develop high-quality projects in line with international standards, and make the emirate of Sharjah a distinctive destination with distinguished projects and qualitative investments. In this respect, Al Sarkal said: "We seek through our meeting with Bee’ah to pave the way for creating a sort of partnership that will enable us to work together and benefit from the company’s expertise in actively and appropriately addressing environmental challenges that we currently face, as well as to protect our natural environment and make a tangible change by implementing Bee’ah’s ideas and initiatives in projects carried out and supervised by Shurooq." "During the meeting we discussed some ideas that were presented by Bee’ah to be implemented in current and future projects in the emirate. One such idea is the recycling of used car tyres, which could be reused in rubber industries, sports spaces and road paving, which would contribute to getting rid of one of the waste sources in our country, especially since tyre waste has become a serious challenge facing many countries, including the UAE and other GCC countries," Al Sarkal added. He added that Shurooq will work in coordination with Bee’ah to organize awareness campaigns for companies and individuals in Sharjah so as to raise their awareness about the dangers of plastic waste and the importance of adopting a work mechanism to make Sharjah a sustainable environmentally friendly city. "Shurooq has already embraced an environmental strategy to implement eco-friendly projects such as the Al Majaz Park project, where eco-friendly plants will be used," said Al Sarkal, adding that the lighting system in Al Qasba will be converted into LED system that helps save 93 percent of the power consumed in conventional lamps. Said Khaled Al Huraimel, General Manager of Bee’ah: "At Bee’ah, we have great faith in strategic partnerships built on the basis of shared visions, and such is the case with Shurooq. We hope that this will be the first of many milestones for Bee’ah and Shurooq, and that it will evolve into an environmental partnership that works towards making Sharjah a greener emirate and building sustainable developments. Together, we hope to make Sharjah an environmental leader in the region and at the forefront of sustainable developments." In line with its strategy to promote Sharjah, Shurooq is going ahead with its plans to complete important projects in the emirate, where it is currently supervising the implementation of two landmark projects. The first is the region’s biggest heritage project, ’Heart of Sharjah’, which aims to revive the heritage area, while the second is the development of Al Majaz Park, the first phase of which is expected to be completed by November in order to coincide with the launch of the Sharjah Water Festival and the Formula 1 Powerboat championship - Sharjah Grand Prix. |
