Sharjah Natural History And Botanical Museum Participates In ADIHEX 2010











The Sharjah Natural History and Botanical Museum, part of Sharjah Museums Department (SMD) is participating in the Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition 2010, organised under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in the western region and Chairman of Emirates Falconers’ Club, from September 22- 25 at ADNEC.

The participation of the Natural History and Botanical Museum aligns with the vision of SMD to enhance the presence of its museums at international exhibitions and thus raise knowledge and awareness about the importance of nature and history.

"ADIHEX 2010 presents an ideal platform and opportunity to view some of the museum’s art that reflect significant historic eras and shed light on aspects of natural history, environment, traditions and heritage," said Shamsa Al Ketbi, Curator of the Natural History and Botanical Museum.

"Our participation also underscores the emphasis of Sharjah Museums Department in contributing to preserving heritage, traditions and national values, as well as promoting awareness of the importance of history and nature," she added.

The Natural History and Botanical Museum will present a number of falcons, which prefer the natural habitat of the UAE, in addition to the most popular equipment used in falconry, and a basic explanation on how to use these equipment. The museum will also display a distinctive set of birds according to their origins, regions and environment.

The Sharjah Museums Department plays an active role in raising knowledge and awareness relevant to its fields and specialty. It works with other institutions and local departments to achieve its mission and objectives.
