A series of events will put the spotlight firmly on a celebration of culture and accomplishment

Al Qasba, Sharjah’s premier tourism, culture and entertainment destination, is celebrating Emirati culture and talent on the occasion of the 39th UAE National Day, with the aim of combining the recognition of rapid progress with the appreciation of tradition and heritage.

Al Qasba’s programme of events will run from December 1st to 4th and encompasses three distinct elements – UAE culture, heritage and traditions. Simultaneously, there is also a focus on promoting and showcasing Emirati talent on the occasion. Visitors to Al Qasba will enjoy performances of the traditional “Harbeya” dance on the 2nd of December, followed by an expansive fireworks display towards nightfall to mark the country’s birth. They will also be able to purchase merchandise and works of art made by Emirati Families at a number of kiosks within the ‘Lamasat’ exhibition which is organized in collaboration with the Supreme Council for Family Affairs.

Dina Al Nakhi, Events Manager at Al Qasba offered felicitations to the nation on its birthday, noting, “The UAE has accomplished much since its formation, and continues to march ahead apace. The rapid rate of development makes it all the more imperative that we keep in touch with the country’s rich culture and traditions, and Al Qasba wants to play a crucial role in that. On behalf of the entire Al Qasba team, I extend my warmest congratulations to the people and residents of the UAE on this very important day.”

“The kiosks will display arts, crafts, cultural artifacts and souvenirs created by Emiratis. Not only is this a way for visitors to acquire mementos reminding them of their participation in the 39th UAE National Day, but also serves as an excellent reminder of the inherent talent and creativity that Emiratis possess in abundance,” Al Nakhi added.

Culture will be combined with interactivity and entertainment through painting workshops for children organized by Watani Not only will the workshops guarantee hours of absorbing yet educational fun for children, but also offer a prize from Watani for the best painting. ‘Knowledge Without Borders’ organizing committee will have a special participation through its mobile bus that will give the visitors the opportunity to read a story of the National Day by Aisha Al Sheikh and a chance to win a lot of prizes through different competitions.

Al Qasba is liaising with Sharjah Municipality to ensure the venue is decorated with flags, buntings and streamers in the festive spirit of UAE National Day. One of the major events will be the All Women Unity Drive, which is an official National Day event registered under the patronage of the Ministry of Culture and Youth.
