Mouj Island Attracts 60,000 Visitors During First Days Of Sharjah Water Festival











Mouj Island, a main point of attraction at the Sharjah Water Festival (SWF) 2010, has attracted over 60,000 visitors during the National Day and weekend holidays due to the range of diverse, fun-filled and entertaining activities on offer.

Organized by the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA), the SWF 2010, which takes place from 2 to11 December, has witnessed an unprecedented turnout of festival-goers wanting to experience the diverse water-themed shows and fun-filled activities taking place at Al Majaz Waterfront.

With its thrilling and amusing activities, the Mouj Island serves as the perfect place for families, and especially children, to enjoy and take part in various games and edutainment activities and watch acrobatic pirate shows. During the festivals’ first few days, visitors were happy to meet with Mouj, the festival’s mascot and children’s beloved cartoon character, who distributed a magazine featuring a host of puzzles, games, competitions, useful information and exciting stories.

Children also got the chance to enjoy the Mouj Island "Meet and Greet", pet shows, pirate and puppet shows, drum shows, The Black Theatre shows, water-themed games, sand games, team games, throwing cushions, carnivals and National Day parades, diving and dancing shows, sea cartoons, and rubber and sand castle competitions, among others.

Running daily until 11 December, the SWF 2010 will continue its activities at Al Majaz Waterfront. All members of the family can participate in various competitions, and there is a range of edutainment and sporting competitions for specifically for children (with prizes for the winners) on offer. People can also have their faces painted, or have memorial pictures taken with Mouj.
