Entrepreneur Samer Kamal founded Bee’ah almost four years ago. Bee’ah is the leading integrated environmental-management group in the Middle East. Khaled Al Huraimel to replace Kamal as MD; Kamal remains on the Board of Directors.Bee’ah, the leading integrated environmental management company in the Middle East, has today announced that Founder Samer Kamal has decided to step down as Managing Director. Kamal remains a member of the Board of Directors and becomes a strategic advisor to Bee’ah, the environmental management company he founded almost four years ago and which has grown even faster than expected. Mr. Khaled Al Huraimel, Bee’ah’s General Manager, replaces Kamal on Jan. 1st, 2011. Kamal says: “I am very proud to hand over the successful operation of Bee’ah to Khaled. Today, through the support of His Highness, Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi and Her Highness, Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, and the dedicated efforts of the Bee’ah team, Bee’ah has become the leader in recycling in the UAE and has helped Sharjah to take a pre-eminent place in the environmental development of the region. We are now sustainable, both financially and environmentally, and I am confident that the company will continue to expand and improve under Khaled’s management. Khaled has a tremendous history of successful strategic and operational management, and has been a great ally in the growth of the company.” Through the vision of His Highness, Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, and His tremendous support in creating this unique public and private partnership, the Bee’ah family has grown from a team of just three people to an operation of 2,000, and assets of AED4 billion ($1.1 billion) under management. Bee’ah manages waste collection and recycling for more than 800,000 people in Sharjah with plans to expand into other Emirates, and educates approximately 100,000 school children on the importance of environmental responsibility. Kamal says: “We have achieved a great milestone by diverting more than 20% of waste from Sharjah landfills already. We all take great pride in the many innovative accomplishments of adapting state-of-the-art methodologies to the local environment, and delivering effective and sustainable solutions to the communities we service.” Fresh from his success in developing Bee’ah, Kamal has started working on a new project in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Commenting on the invaluable role that Kamal has played in Bee’ah, His Excellency Salim Bin Mohammed Al Owais, Chairman of Bee’ah, said: “On behalf of Sharjah, the shareholders at Bee’ah and the entire Bee’ah family, it is with great pride and much pleasure that I congratulate Samer, and thank him for his visionary contribution to Sharjah, the environment in the UAE and the business of Bee’ah. “Since founding the company nearly four years ago, Samer has built Bee’ah up from infancy into a company with solid foundations and a strong commitment to delivering on its mandate of enhancing the Sharjah environment, in accordance with the vision of His Highness Dr. Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah.” On Al Huraimel’s promotion to MD, Al Owais says: “Khaled is dedicated to ensuring Bee’ah’s continued growth and profitability, while balancing the interests of Bee’ah shareholders, the public we serve and the quest for a sustainable environment. He has been with Bee’ah for a long time and has a successful track record on which I know he will build.” Al Huraimel says his mission is clear: “I am looking forward to taking on this new challenge and building on the solid foundations we have laid down.
